If you were near the pantry garden this week, you may have noticed WLOS was videotaping Chef Martha for a segment on Carolina Kitchen. Her honey cumin sautéed carrots were mouthwatering, along with the tasty watermelon, cucumber, and feta cheese salad. Bill, the photographer, captured bees flying into our hives, the new hoop house, and our garden beds filled and ready to harvest of organic produce! On a personal note -- thank you Martha for your time and talents filling in for Doug and gathering items for Carolina Kitchen this past week. Martha harvested over 150 pounds of squash, cucumbers, and carrots. Neighbors are so appreciative of our fresh organic produce.
This week was one of our Mini Manna deliveries. This bi-weekly opportunity often has canned fruit, eggs, milk, and cereal. Look at the pictures for the tower of food we received and our Wednesday volunteers.
We welcomed 144 families representing 516 individuals. There were ten new families representing 26 family members. We continue to need volunteers who can help with Spanish registrations. Once a month would be very helpful!
On behalf of our Pantry Board, we express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous food and monetary donations to our pantry. Your donations will make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity.
